When you mention Ontario, what many people talk about often is: Toronto. Vaughan, Ontario is technically part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), so it is often overlooked in terms of photography. People often assume the only place to get trendy photos is Toronto because of the hipster, social media-catered restaurants and many art exhibitions that get put up weekly. I’m here to tell you that Vaughan too, has many instagram-worthy locations that you may have overlooked.
Anyone who lives in Ontario knows, the best places to take photos is either up north in more natural settings, or in the heart of Toronto. Toronto has many great photography spots all around the city. A little walking around, and you’ll have lots of photos snapped. However, what about the spots no one thinks to look? I lived in Vaughan, so I often took trips to the city and have familiarized myself with some hidden or neglected photography spots.
I checked out Colette Grand Cafe in Toronto to see if it matches up with the reputation it has on Instagram. Is it as good as it seems online on Instagram? On Instagram, when you look up Colette, you see beautiful, bright, delicious foods with instagram-worthy backdrops and floor-drops for photos. Many bloggers and Instagramers visit the cafe to get professional looking photos without trying too hard. My friend Linda had her birthday shoot here, so it was a great chance for Esther, Linda, and I to check out how the place really looked and how the food tasted.
Now before I start this post, I want to say that I’ve never been to Winterlicious or fine dining before, so this was my first experience. I’ve always wanted to go to both because Winterlicious is a great time to try new, expensive restaurants for a discounted price. And I always thought the serving sizes of regular family restaurants can be quite big, so this was a fun change of pace.
At the beginning of the week I came back to my room to find this: An invitation from my two friends to a boat cruise on the day of my birthday! Now on to the actual day, we went through some commuting troubles in terms of unreliable transportation services that came late. But eventually we made it!
