Trying asian products can be intimidating because there’s such a large selection. I find myself buying more American products because I’m used to shopping for them and comparing is easy. However, when it comes to Korean and Japanese products, it’s a whole other world I don’t understand. Luckily for me, Peach & Lily were kind enough to curate me a few products that would suit my skin and its concerns. So here’s my break down of how I felt about everything.
Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of attending the KISS Fall and Holiday 2016 Collection.
It was a pleasant experience at Delysees in Toronto. I have always heard of Delysees and seen many of the delicious pictures, but I had never been there. Being a girl close to Toronto, but still quite the commute away, it’s hard to drag me down there just for food. However, I finally got the chance to try it today! I had the vanilla eclair and it tastes sweet but light. They also offered wine for the guests and thai rolled ice cream! I was so excited for it because it’s all I ever see on Facebook. I have to say, watching it being made in real life is hypnotizing. I think if I’m ever in Toronto, I’ll drop by and grab some sweets again.
I already had balayage and ombre in my hair from last year. The first picture depicts the dark and soft ombre. That I had. My hair also grew out quite a few inches since then. Because I already had balayage and ombre in my hair, my stylist Amanda simply touched up the top layer of my hair with a lighter balayage and gave me a 2 inch trim. You can see the results in the middle photo. Excuse the way my ends look, they’re always frizzy when freshly blow dried/ air drying. It was fairly brassy toned because she needed it that shade to react well with the blue pigments later. I found that there weren’t enough highlights. I just looked like an ombre to me. I didn’t want an ombre at all because I was totally over it and I really liked the natural highlights look of balayage. I asked Amanda to put some more in that were a little higher and she was happy to do so. I never got to see how it looked with the highlights added in. Amanda just put in the blue and green dye on my balayage right after.
I’ve always wanted to try afternoon or high tea. It always looked so classy, posh, and delicious. Any time I see desserts beautifully plated, it wins me over and I want it. Now, afternoon tea tends to be very pricy. It’s usually minimum $30 per person. Some prices even go up to a whopping $70 each. I’m sure the high end tea places have much more luxury desserts and teas, but it’s totally out of my budget. Luckily, I found a Groupon for afternoon tea for two at Ruelo. How much was it? Only $30 for TWO! What a deal! So you know I definitely took the chance and bought a ticket.
Sweet Note is a dessert cafe located in Markham. I’m quite fond of sweets and tea, so I figured Sweet Note would be a great place to visit. Plus, the sign is pretty cute, so the food has to be good, RIGHT? RIGHT?!Upon walking in, it’s a small interior, but pleasantly decorated. The cafe was clean with all white furniture ranging from regular to high top tables. The front also has a glass display with colourful treats you can purchase to go. Sweet Note had: milk mousse, cupcakes, cake of the day, and macarons behind the glistening glass. The tables were also topped with a small jar of lollipops that you could snack on while waiting for your order. I found that it was a cute touch as it was multi- functional. Plus, who doesn’t want to snack while waiting for their snacks?!
I have never been to a salon to get my hair coloured before because I thought the prices were ridiculous for long and thick hair like mine. Also, I’ve heard of so many horror stories that I’m just too scared to do it. Finally, on Wednesday August 6th, I did it. I got my hair ombre’d. I originally wanted balayage, but I feel like my ombre had hints of a balayage look in it.
After getting my hair done, I finally understand why people pay the price to get it professionally done. I was absolutely in love with it! I can guarantee you I spent the day taking pictures of my hair and looking in all mirrors and reflections I walked by. The ombre is absolutely beautiful!
