Quick & Easy Healthy Popcorn Topping Recipes

Quick & Easy Healthy Popcorn Topping Recipes

Popcorn is one of my favourite snacks. I love it because it is crispy, low in calories, and tastes good by itself or mixed in with toppings. I originally shared with you one recipe in my healthy late night snacks video a while back. It wasn’t exactly a ‘recipe’, but more like just slathering Sriracha on top (which by the way tastes amazing).  Since then, I’ve been experimenting with what I’ve got in my kitchen to see if I can more different flavours I can share with my friends since not all my friends can eat spicy. Any excuse I have to make healthy snacks, I will take it! So here are some of my favourite popcorn recipes:

Quick & Easy Healthy Popcorn Topping Recipes protein

Protein Trail Mix Popcorn

This mix is great if you’re craving for something nutty and protein filled. Almond butter is packed with protein and healthy fats. To balance the flavour out, dried cranberries are used to sweeten up the mix. Feel free to use a different kind of nut butter or dried fruits to mix things up to your preferred tastes.

  • 2 cups of plain popped popcorn
  • 1-2 tbs almond butter
  • small handful of cranberries

Quick & Easy Healthy Popcorn Topping Recipes sweet cinnamon honey

Sweet Tooth Popcorn

Craving for something sweet and sugary? Put down those hard candies, because you need to try this out. Be careful with how much honey you use because honey is very concentrated and it’s easy to accidentally use too much. Remember, it doesn’t need to coat every single kernel. Feel free to add other spices if you want a more ‘bakery’ taste like nutmeg.

  • 2 cups of plain popped popcorn
  • 1 1/2 tsp honey
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • small handful of almond slices

Quick & Easy Healthy Popcorn Topping Recipes light seaweed

Low Calorie Light Popcorn

If you’re calorie conscious, this is a great option for you. Not only is popcorn already low in calories, but so is seaweed! If you want it to be even healthier, try to find seaweed that’s unsalted and/ or roasted with extra virgin olive oil. It is important to note that this recipe is very mild in flavour. If you’re not a huge fan of plain popcorn, I wouldn’t recommend this for you.

  • 2 cups of plain popped popcorn
  • 1-2 packages of roasted & salted seaweed
