Balayage and Ombre have been all the rage for the past few years. It started with dip-dye, and eventually evolved into ombre, balayage, and then a fusion of both. I believe the end-goal is for a natural looking colour that’s easy to maintain because it’s not dyed to the roots but still noticeable. I’ve also been on the trend for a while because plain black hair just isn’t my thing and I’m definitely not rich enough to dye my whole head and keep maintaining the colour with my quick growing hair which ends up with nasty looking harsh roots. So, I took a step further this year and not only chopped off a lot of my hair, but also dyed it a vibrant, beautiful purple. Here’s how I did it:
I’m currently 23 and at this age, I feel like a lot of people are drinking and partying a lot, but I feel like it’s no longer my favoured type of entertainment. At one short moment of my life, I did enjoy it. And don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy drinking and partying maybe once or twice a year, but to take part in those activities at the frequency that many of my friends do it, I can’t. Because so many of my friends at the time loved that as a past time and knew I once loved it, it was hard to take a step back and remove myself from the scene. So here’s why I quit drinking and partying so much and how I stopped.
Don’t put away your old clothes just yet. As many of you already know, fashion styles and trends cycle throughout the years. Some pieces are directly cycled, some are modified. That’s the beauty of the fashion evolution, old clothes can always be re-used or treasured as vintage pieces. In fact, with some trend re-appearing, it makes me regret donating some old pieces that I definitely would be re-wearing now in 2017. However, the only thing that makes me not feel so bad about my ill decisions is that I probably wouldn’t have still fit in them anyways. None the less, I have learned to try re-using and re-wearing old clothes to get the most wear out of them.
Believe it or not, this makeup remover really is reuseable and cheap. It almost sounds too good to be true and I too was skeptical about the whole idea of it. And to be honest, this has changed my life and I’m never going back. I no longer use any of my old makeup removers. And yes, that include those convenient makeup removing wipes and my beloved Biotherm Balm-to-Oil Cleanser. Want to know what this holy reuseable makeup remover is? Well I’ll tell you.
Tacos and burritos can be messy and a headache if you’re hosting a party for people. They fall, they break, they get soggy, they crumble everywhere. Trust me, I know because I love me a good home made taco. So to get over those struggles, here’s some taco hacks I’ve come by:
The mermaid and unicorn trend have been taking the internet by storm. People have begun making mermaid themed things ranging from food to clothing. Something about the beautiful mix of colours and iridescent details brings these mermaid things to life. One of the more popular and new items that have been introduced is mermaid toast. There’s no surprise to why this one creation has caught so much attention, it’s so elegant and beautiful! So I decided I’m going to take the challenge and create mermaid toast!
I love vegan food because it’s so versatile, healthy, makes you feel good, and aesthetically pleasing. I partnered up with Old El Paso to try my hand at making some vegan taco fillings because you can never have enough taco recipes! I’m actually so excited for this collaboration because I’ve always ran to Old El Paso for taco night supplies, haha.
So, after many trial and errors, I have 3 recipes to share made out of: lentils, rice, and cauliflower. If you want a video, I’ll have it linked at the bottom of this post.
Trying asian products can be intimidating because there’s such a large selection. I find myself buying more American products because I’m used to shopping for them and comparing is easy. However, when it comes to Korean and Japanese products, it’s a whole other world I don’t understand. Luckily for me, Peach & Lily were kind enough to curate me a few products that would suit my skin and its concerns. So here’s my break down of how I felt about everything.
I’m sure you’ve heard about bloggers and Youtubers raving about Acai bowls. I’ve wanted to try it for a long time, but I’ve been holding back because I figured it was generally the same as what I make myself for breakfast sometimes. But since it’s close to where I live, it seemed appropriate to try it out and see if it actually tastes good or if people are just saying it’s “good” because it’s a superfood. I got to find out the truth behind Acai bowls.
I’ve never been into a real corn maze until now and it was definitely overwhelming. When I was told I’d be going to a corn maze in Lubbock, Texas, I thought it’d be super small like the straw mazes made out of hay that Canadian Tire used to host for children. However, this corn maze was a whole other thing. When you first enter, you see a map of the maze and it gives you an idea of how the maze is structured. Apparently it changes every year. When I had some time to actually look at the map, there were so many different turns and dead ends, I knew this was going to be a real corn maze.
I was in quite the dire situation with little to no food in the fridge and pantry. I wasn’t going to be grocery shopping anytime soon, so I needed quick meal I could make out of what I had on hand. And of course, the one thing that you can depend on is rice balls or onigiri.
Onigiri are rice balls formed into either spherical or triangular shapes and wrapped with nori. I obviously didn’t have the traditional ingredients like sticky rice or nori, so I altered the recipes quite a bit. After making onigiri, I have come to learn that it is not as easy as you’d think it is and I may need A LOT of practice before mastering the art. I actually ended up using too much rice and too little filling, making each bite full of rice. I also found that because I am a beginner at making onigiri, it was VERY time consuming. If I’m starving as I was in the video making it, I’ll just chuck all the fillings into a bowl next time.
I checked out Colette Grand Cafe in Toronto to see if it matches up with the reputation it has on Instagram. Is it as good as it seems online on Instagram? On Instagram, when you look up Colette, you see beautiful, bright, delicious foods with instagram-worthy backdrops and floor-drops for photos. Many bloggers and Instagramers visit the cafe to get professional looking photos without trying too hard. My friend Linda had her birthday shoot here, so it was a great chance for Esther, Linda, and I to check out how the place really looked and how the food tasted.
Have you ever thought back into your childhood memory and remembered a place that you found was beautiful, fun, and unlike any other you’ve visited? I recently did. I took a trip to Mill Pond Park to see if the place in my memory was real. To my delight, it in fact was real. Obviously it was much smaller than I anticipated since I was a lot younger, but it definitely still captured the same beauty, light, and fun.
One thing is for sure after I climbed the mountains in the Palo Dura Canyon, I’m not exercising for a VERY long time. At first, I didn’t think this was going to be that bad of a hike. The trails I’ve gone on in the GTA back in Canada are pretty flat or don’t stay steep for long. Also, I never have to feel like I’m being baked alive in the GTA. The different between trails in Texas and GTA are very different. Luckily, through all the exhaustion, I was able to get some bomb pictures.
Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of attending the KISS Fall and Holiday 2016 Collection.
It was a pleasant experience at Delysees in Toronto. I have always heard of Delysees and seen many of the delicious pictures, but I had never been there. Being a girl close to Toronto, but still quite the commute away, it’s hard to drag me down there just for food. However, I finally got the chance to try it today! I had the vanilla eclair and it tastes sweet but light. They also offered wine for the guests and thai rolled ice cream! I was so excited for it because it’s all I ever see on Facebook. I have to say, watching it being made in real life is hypnotizing. I think if I’m ever in Toronto, I’ll drop by and grab some sweets again.
